In 1989 Grove entered the film industry, initially specializing in stunts and special effects:

"I was teaching martial arts at the time and was looking for another outlet for my skills," Grove said.

"One night I was looking through the paper and I saw a stunt workshop advertisement. Lars Lundgren, a veteran stunt performer who was in Denver at the time, was running it. It was a six week course. After the second week, Lars took me aside and said that he no longer wanted me as a student. I was shocked for a moment. Then he smiled and said, 'Instead, I would like you as a partner.'"

Grove is proficient at designing, choreographing, and staging a wide variety of action sequences involving high falls, wire stunts, fights, firearms, precision driving, breakaways, custom-designed weaponry, prosthetic make-up, pyrotechnics, and atmospheric effects. He has channeled these skills into his own stunt and special effects company: Asgard Entertainment. Grove's martial arts dojo, Warrior Quest International, provides training for stuntwork and theatrical combat in addition to instruction in the Ninja, Samurai, and Kunoichi arts.

Skilled as an actor, a physically gifted acrobat and martial artist, and with more than ten years experience in training other martial artists and stunt performers, Mark Steven Grove has a particularly keen appreciation for what it takes to make fights, stunts, and special effects look real and exciting for the camera as well as how to train and motivate performers to put the most into their roles.
